Afghanistan has been facing significant challenges since four decades such as conflicts, poverty, insecurity, lack of good governance and a poor education system. Though this country has great achievements after 2001 but still there is need for doing much more work in areas related to health, education, economic empowerment, infrastructure and many more. In 2020 Afghanistan’s economy has weakened as the result of COVID-19 pandemic. At the same time where beginning of peace talks resulted in bringing hope for Afghan people for a better future, it also caused most local and international investments in Afghanistan to be paused. Afghanistan Social and Legal Organization (ASLO) continues to supports the Afghan people through local programs and projects focused on improving quality health services, Education, disaster management, wash and sanitation, Humanitarian aid repatriation affairs Emergency response, , Research, Legal Aid and access to justice, Food security, Child protection, agriculture, livestock, urban, and rural community development In light of 2021-2025 Organization’s Strategic Plan, ASLO through its ten thematic areas, had its best level efforts inserted to empower individuals, communities, and grassroots civil society organizations and promote gender equity by improving development indicators pertaining to quality health services, Education, disaster management, wash and sanitation, Humanitarian aid repatriation affairs Emergency response, , Research, Legal Aid and access to justice, Food security, Child protection, agriculture, livestock, urban, and rural community development support to individuals and or families in need.
ASLO has continuously built its capacity in project management and worked towards improving the quality of services it delivers. ASLO was able to continuously increase the size of its projects, the coverage areas, and the quality and diversity of its services. One of the important achievements of the organization is that ASLO has become a reliable partner to its donors and government in the delivery area of its services. nonetheless, ASLO has developed an effective working relation with line ministries namely, Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock and Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development and with other relevant Ministries within the government, with the target population because of its progressive work to improve the quality of services, and its cooperation with all stakeholders towards the common good.
However, the important part of ASLO’s achievements lies in the changes it has brought to the lives of the population ASLO has worked with. ASLO has valuable achievements in the areas of Agriculture and Livestock, Urban and Rural Community Development, Emergency response and Humanitarian Aid Disaster Management and Repatriation Affairs, Education, wash and Nartiaiton and Health & Nutrition.
