The education thematic area of ASLO has the overall responsibility of managing education projects; the sector functions by a team of qualified and experienced education experts, led by an education program manager. The team is well qualified and is expert in planning, implementing, and follow up of education programs. ASLO believes that education is the main factor for the socio-economic development of the country; therefore, education is one of the core strategies in ASLO’s strategic plan.
ASLO ’s education thematic area has been one of the main contributors of implementing educational national programs in Afghanistan. ASLO was an important partner in implementing the Afghanistan National Education Coalition project, which was an accelerated learning program for boys and girls who were not able to go to schools during the Taliban regime. In total 47,031 students (22,519 boys and 24,512 girls) successfully graduated from the 6th grade, and were eligible to continue their education from 7th grade in formal schools.
Building Education Support System for Teachers (BESST) was an important project in ASLO ’s educational background.
Currently ASLO is in strategic partnership with Afghanistan National Education Coalition and will contribute implementation of this initiative in Afghanistan to provide quality, accessible and modern education for Afghan children in Afghanistan.
