From emergency response to economic empowerment
Food Security and Livelihoods spans emergency food assistance, multi-year resilience programs, cash-based interventions, and women’s economic empowerment. ASLO has served as a trusted implementing partner for the World Food Programme (WFP), delivering food transfer modalities and unconditional seasonal cash support to vulnerable households. Following the 2023 Herat earthquake, ASLO rapidly mobilized emergency joint response programming through Care International — demonstrating strong emergency response capacity.
The organization has established five Multi-Purpose Women Centers in Kandahar with CARE/UN Women, implemented Women-Owned Business (WOB) promotion programs with UN Women, and delivered Multi-Year Resilience Programs (MYRP) with ECHO/AKF and ECHO/NRC across Maidan Wardak, Herat, and Badghis — combining food security, livelihoods, and protection in a community-centered approach.
