Education

ASLO’s largest and most externally-validated sector — Community-Based Education, literacy, and school construction across Afghanistan.

Sector 01

Learning that reaches the last mile

Since 2022, ASLO has managed Community-Based Education (CBE) programs funded by UNICEF across four provinces simultaneously — Badghis, Baghlan, Kunar, and Maidan Wardak — while completing UNICEF-funded school construction in Kabul (USD 1.12 million) and Badakhshan, and delivering Youth and Adult Literacy and Basic General Literacy programs for UNESCO across Khost, Paktia, and Sar-e-Pul at the same time. ASLO has also managed Global Partnership for Education System Improvement Grants (GPE ESPIG) in Logar through IRC and SCA, and implemented emergency education programs for out-of-school children through ECHO/ACTED in Takhar and Badakhshan, and ECHO/IRC in Badghis.

This breadth — spanning community-based learning, adult literacy, emergency education, and physical school construction — confirms ASLO as one of the most versatile and trusted education implementing partners among Afghan national NGOs, with demonstrated capacity to manage large, multi-province education portfolios compliant with UNICEF, UNESCO, GPE, and ECHO standards simultaneously.
